House Tour

Update #2

We have spent a few days now in the Morrissey house and going back to Susan’s to sleep. There are some issues that mean the Morrissey house isn’t currently able to be lived in especially with small children. The stove was apparently housing some mice which is lovely. We have a new stove being delivered on Thursday. The POD with our stuff is being delivered on July 8th. Anyway, I thought that now would be a good time to show you all the house. And the point from which we are starting from. The rooms are; the entry way, the kitchen, the dining room, the bathroom, the living room, the sun room, the stairs, the guest room, the girls room, the upstairs bath, the craft room, the master bedroom, the master bathroom, the attic, the attached garage, the detached garage, and the basement.

We usually enter the house using the back door which is next to the attached garage. There is a small entry way and stairwell into the kitchen.

The kitchen was remodeled about the same time as the addition of the two car garage and the room above it. As I said above, the mouse home stove will be replaced in the next couple of days. There are tons of hidden antique treasures to find here and I can’t wait. This is one of the rooms we need to clear out before we can move in because of the necessity of the room.

There are two doors off the kitchen one leads to the dining room and the other to the living room. The dining room had a table and chairs that we recently had removed. There is still plenty of stuff in here to be sorted through as well.

There is a little room with a desk and a bathroom off of the dining room. I can’t wait to go through that desk! Possibly even move it upstairs to use it as a work space.

The kitchen and dining room both have doors to the living room. Which is now mostly empty and fairly well gone through. There was a couch and a rug both of which we recently had removed. The couch was a King George couch which we just didn’t have a space or use for. The rug was worn and was not too far from another rug we had removed because of carpet moths. And now there is the lovely green carpet pad that was under it which is fused to the hardwood that we now need to scrape off. So that is a fun new project.

Next up is the sun room/kids playroom. This room has been gone through and is ready for the kids to play in and add their own stuff to when it arrives.

The hall to the stairwell has a few things to be gone through as well. This leads up to the second floor hall. There are three bedrooms off of this hall and one doorway which leads up to the attic. There are a few pieces of furniture to empty through here. The first bed room at the top of the stairs we are planning to turn into a guest room. And it has plenty of fun things to find.

Guest Room

The next room is what will be the girls room. And it has been cleared except for a few things in the closet. And the mess the kids made just before I took the picture.

The girl’s bedroom

The upstairs bathroom is the next room in the hall. It has a treasure trove of items in the medicine cabinet.

The next bedroom is more of an antechamber because of the location of the addition. So this bedroom leads to what is now the master bedroom. This room was previously the craft room and will most likely continue to be used as such. It also needs some work. I can’t wait to see what crafty treasures I find in here.

Next up is the master bedroom and bathroom are about the size of a two car garage. It is an addition to the original house that was built to have Florence stay with Emily.

The attic will be an endeavor all by itself. There are two parts to it, the original attic and the part above the addition. Eventually Ben and I think it would be fun to finish this and use it as a kids play area.

The attached garage will also be an adventure. There is a fun Lincoln Oldsmobile that supposedly runs just needs new tires and maintenance.

The detached garage is also full of things to be sorted.

And then there is the basement. Very much like horror movie basements and root cellars, which makes sense based on when the house was built.
