Project Updates

It’s been a busy few weeks with the holiday this past weekend. I got both a lot done and not a lot.

Flax Fiber

I did it! The rust colored flax was spun, plied, and finished! Not only that but it was also crocheted onto the rest of the crop top. And I still have quite a bit of linen yarn left so I may make it into another shirt or something eventually, possibly soon. We will see.

Gwen Jacket

This worked up so fast! It is also finished aside from some buttons that need to be chosen and sewn on. It turned out really cute if not a little big. Which was my fault as I should have swatched but didn’t. That ended up being a good thing because I ended with pretty much no left-over yarn at all.

Cast-On’s

I came to a point this week that I had no new projects and nothing on my wheel. We are ignoring the fact that I had a giant list of projects to do a few posts ago of course. So I started a few things. I even finished one and am close to done with another.

Cowl

I started a color work knitting project to play with and see what happens and what I learn. I also wanted to use some yarn from my now growing stash. I settled on some of Pip’s Yarn and some of the purpley black yarn I got from the Distaff Day Exchange. I then found a pattern for the cowl I wanted to make and settled on Black Light by Shaina Bilow. I fully knit this in about a week. It was so much fun! I finished it shortly before we left to go Easter Egg Hunting and it was so warm and I was very grateful for it’s warmth.

Gwen Mittens

I finished the cowl and decided to start something small and portable now that it is getting warmer and the girls want to go play outside. So I started a pair of mitten’s for Gwen for next year (theoretically). I chose to follow a mitten pattern by Tin Can Knits. It is very easy and a lovely knit. I am using a 100% merino that has been dyed pink so they wont be super durable but they should be toasty warm. I wanted to try two at a time especially because I wasn’t certain about if I would have enough yardage. And if I ran out of yarn I wanted it to be a roughly the same spot. That is now not looking like it is going to be the case. I also Somehow managed to get them flipped inside out and just kept going with it so they are currently inside out on the needles.

Spinning

This isn’t technically a cast-on but it is a newly started thing. I was feeling a little emotional this past week and one way I dealt with it was spinning just to spin. So I ended up with some Icelandic tog (outer coat) being spun and when I ran out of what I had already separated I grabbed some Peruvian Highland roving from KnitPicks and just kept spinning. I am not really sure what I want to do with this now. I am considering doing a three ply with it and some other Peruvian Highland roving I have and seeing how it turns out.

Easter

The girls and I dyed Easter Eggs this past week. And Gwen picked out this one that had a golden paint. They turned out so pretty! We also went to the store this week and picked up some discounted packaged of egg dye to dye yarn with so that will be coming eventually.

Garden

I didn’t get any new photos of the garden because it pretty much looks the same. I however do not. As I must have brushed up against some poison ivy whilst we were traipsing through the woods. So that has been fun. I am super allergic to it and a tiny bit of the oil goes a long way on my skin. Thankfully Ben and the girls have shown no signs of the poison ivy. We also got the corn in the ground! So let the growing commence!

Thank you for joining our adventures!

Lots of Love,
